I wrote this in September of 2013. Some of you have already heard this as I put it up on a youtube channel a long time ago, but I figured it should live here too with the rest of my stuff.

In August 2013, I was on tour with Darrow Chemical Company. We were in California. I received a phone call that pretty much changed the course of my life. Turns out my brother was in a terrible accident that caused some life-threatening injuries. I scrambled to get home to be with him. You see, both our parents are long gone. It's just me and him. so There was no way in hell I wasn't making it home as fast as humanly possible.

By the time I got home my brother was in an induced coma. He had severe spinal injuries and major trauma to his lungs. Doctors and nurses were prepping me, hinting that he might not recover. He was in a coma for over 5 weeks.

I would go to the hospital every day. Every night I would go home and DM him on Facebook to tell him what was going on. What the doctors had said. What procedures were done or what they were looking to do next. I would tell him everything I was doing to make sure he got back to me. I guess it was a way for me to deal with it and let some of those things out. I'm not entirely sure if he's read any of that since he recovered but it certainly paints a picture.

One September night I wrote this song. It started it off with the riff and then the lead melody on top of it. I recorded it the very same night. I'm not good at writing words. So these notes portray every emotion and feeling I had during these days.

My brother is the definition of a fighter. His strength and determination to not let this accident define him is the single best thing either of us has ever done.
